EA’s Bloom Blox, the game that has received accolades of praise from game critics, is not doing too well on the sales front. The game was launched in early May, but managed to sell just 60,000 units in North America. The CEO, Riccitiello, argues that Bloom Blox sales will slowly catch on, unlike the sales of other casual games that sell all the way up to one thirds of their total sales in the first week of its launch, before the sales begin to peter out. Hopefully, Riccitiello’s predictions that there will be sustained sales over a period of time will come true.

The job postings for recruitment of new artists, designers and producers indicate that there is a new game or a sequel to the Bloom Blox. Experience with physics based games is explicitly required, and is an indicator of the kind of games to expect. The good news is that the Bloom Blox team is still sticking to its guns, in spite of the low sales, and developing more games in the same style. The idea seems to be to bring an element of fun to all age groups in the casual style of playing.
