End of Factor 5 12/29/2008
It seems Santa has come with unemployment as gift in the stockings. Last we heard of Factor 5 was that they were thinking of compiling Rogue Squadron. It was a compilation of the N64 and Game Cube titles, all on one Wii disc. However, looking at the current scenario, it looks as if Factor 5 is also going under bad times, much like other game developers. Nintendo’s Mario Kart was at number one for four consecutive weeks and still holds the first position in the UK individual format sales charts for full last week of Christmas. Since the release of the game on April 11th in Europe, the game has almost maintained its top position and the sale has rose 40 percent over the last seven days. Club Nintendo Launches Real Prizes 12/21/2008
The North American Club Nintendo site was accessible for just one minute but the Rewards it had displayed could be seen in that short time. The prizes are similar to what Club Nintendo in Japan offered. The prizes included the Mario hat DS Game Stand, hanafuda cards game which is a traditional Japanese card game, DS game cases and Game& Watch Collection. These games were there in the Japanese Club Nintendo rewards also. Nintendo Planning a Game on Napoleon 12/21/2008
Recently, Nintendo of Japan has registered a rather unusual trademark, the right to use “Napoleon” it one of its game. We kept guessing whether now Nintendo plans to impart Napoleon Bonaparte’s Military Training in the form of Super Napoleon Kart. But Siliconera denied all these guesses. Siliconera’s Spencer predicted that Nintendo would be planning to be preparing a title based on a popular hearts-like card game in Japan. Nintendo Wii Tracker- Last Hope 12/16/2008
I am glad that Nintendo kept its promise. They had promised we would not see Wii shortage this holiday. WalMart and many other retailers still have a stock at their stores. It has been an unbelievable season for Nintendo. A huge amount of people are using a Nintendo Wii tracker to check availability at stores. This is the time to get a Nintendo Wii because prices are increasing everyday. The Ultimate Shooting Collection was earlier delayed from November 11th and scheduled to release on December 15th as mentioned by the publisher UFO Interactive’s US release. There is still some bad news to come. The compilation of Milestone shooters which include Radio Allergy, Chaos Field and Karous was to be released on December 15th but will be delayed by a month, as declared by Amazon and Gamestop. Gamestop’s new release date is January 20th and that of Amazon is January 31st. The verification of this delay is awaited by UFO and would also specify the confirmed released dates. Joystiq’s hands-on: Ghostbusters 12/14/2008
Joystiq is out with all the latest versions of Ghostbusters with the first hands-on with Ghostbusters: The Video Game that developers like Terminal Reality (PS3/PC/360) and Red Fly (Wii) are delivering pure and off-the-chart fan service. The only concern now is will the game be fun to play or not and is it as good as it looks on paper. According to Terminal Reality, since many people have not seen the original movie or its sequel, the chances of some middle-aged men dressed in goofy getups may not be a major point for sell. Return of Ready to Rumble 12/07/2008
The hilarious Ready to Rumble is planning a major, star-studded return in spring 2009 with the launch of Ready 2 Rumble Revolution. This time the franchise would be Wii and taking the advantage of the motion-controlled realism of Wii, Ready 2 Rumble Revolution will make a punch more fun than ever. Ready 2 Rumble Revolution was first announced in 2006 but this time Atari has confirmed that the announcement is real with screens and a lot more. However, those screens have the new character designs based on celebrities and not too good to view. Nintendo had submitted an official application to trademark Wii Remote in March this year. However, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) have suspended Nintendo’s application for the same and sent a letter which indicates that the word remote is far too common and incapable to be trademarked. Still, it is possible for the console Nintendo to trademark the term. For this, Nintendo will have to disclaim any ownership of the word “remote” except for when used with “Wii Remote.” Nintendo seems to correct its earlier statement which said that unless one buys a new hardware, new code cannot be obtained even if you have bought a new hardware or require a replacement code. Contradictory, Nintendo has now announced that it will give out the activation codes to those that have lost the original number or to those who have bought a replacement Wii console since activating the peripheral. The WiiSpeak microphone is the only accessory to access the WiiSpeak Channel and the microphone has a unique activation code that allows the user to view the channel. |
